Filmed April 17, 2012. A day of action involving leafleting outside IRS at W 44th St to inform people where most of our income tax dollars end up getting spend, approximately 47% on the military, followed by a march to the General Post Office GPO to meet up with other organizations involved with tax day protests.
On the video, Barbara Harris of the Granny Peace Brigade explains the need for more money for education, health care, etc, but the budget for human services continues to be cut. It is followed by a march with the Rude Mechanical Orchestra (1:19 on the video, Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" with lyrics "Uh oh this war has got to go"), the War Resisters League, and the NYC People's Life Fund through Times Square and down 9th Avenue.
(not on the video) At a separate rally at Bryant Park, a much larger gathering of hundreds rallied for economic justice, calling on those--in particular Bank of America--to pay their fair share of taxes. They marched down 7th avenue under the banner of United NY, Make the Road NY, and many other organizations including Occupy Wall Street. The Tax Dodgers, and Corporate Loopholes performance troupe were also part of this march; they also gave out envelopes of money to people containing nothing more than a penny to inform how people pay more taxes than corporations like GE, who paid no taxes, yet received over 3 billion in tax credits.

I was just endiing a campaign in Michigan against our Governor, and wondered what more was out there, what more can I do to help make my country the place I used to love, when I stumbled across a thing called Livestream, where people with the same purpose (supposedly) or like mindness could come together, chat, discuss, plan, and act and I was to say the least, excited.
