Halloween, Hags Crones and Witches
appropriate for halloween, I was looking at the term hag - then at the term crone, and witch. It saddened me that all three are in a way derogatory terms, and it seemed to me to lack respect for old women - indeed they can mature like a fine wine, to something mellow, with a wealth of experience and wisdom - old women are not neccesarily cantankerous or wizened and shrivelled.Many witches had a vast knowledge of herbs etc which was useful to their communities It is possible to look into an old face and see beauty an inner beauty that shines from within. Perhaps many look at age and fear their own demise and mortality and displaced fear can cloud vision and obscure logic. Sending love respect and appreciation to all old hags, crones and witches, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
