Corporatisation, what has been corporatised out of our culture. How do we combat/ change that ?

Has exploration and creativity been corporatised out of our culture ? It also begs the question what else might have been corporatised out - that is a fascinating and thought provoking question ! It might be helpful and enliightening to get a global perspective.on this ?

I notice that the discussion forum is not receiving a lot of attention here , could we pull out some of those threads from the forum for discussion on mumble in occ Monday, Freeskilling, or Thursdays global mumble perhaps ? l thought last nights global discussion was very productive and interesting.

How do we get the message out to the corporatised world in practical ways, Talking among ourselves helps clarify things for us but we still need to spread ideas. The media is stitched up, so what other avenues apart from twitter and livestreaming,  are open to us to express our views ?

Okay, I'm somewhat technically challenged, depending on the day or time. Do I just download mumble from link on mumble page to participate? Thanks for the assist!

Wow Hardluck - I had the same or similar idea today, we always think of protests on the street and yes they do have their place, but if we co-ordinated efforts we could have quite an effect targetting on line publications, news outlets, emails to gov departments etc but we are widespread and we need some thoughtful organisation for us all to be responsive together in one direction. Perhaps you could bring this idea to mumble for ideas and input, I'm waiting for a hospital appointment atm so might not be available to do it myself.. Will check out your links :)

I thank you again for bringing up this topic, and forcing me to take a deeper look for solutions. I admit, I have a tendency lately to succumb to feelings of futility in affecting change for any of the many issues of oppression taking place throughout the world and I have to constantly remind myself that change always starts at the individual level. But, wow, what a mess the world is in! Know what I mean? Okay, so moving on from the complaining now:

What do you think about taking over an online publication like Art Contest Magazine (that also does a printed version, as far as I know). By taking over, I mean everybody signs up for a free account and proceeds to upload protest art, occupy photos, form a group, write blogs to raise awareness, etc. etc. Coordinated on a day or weekend so that the we're sure to take over the front page since it displays newest first. Just hold lively conversations to inform and raise awareness and force discussion of the topic all in a civil manner. I recently read that the art world statistics as far as the 1% control issue is concerned is way worse than 1%. I'd have to look at the exact figure quoted again, but .02% or something like that comes to mind. In other words, there is no room for disenfranchised artists in the mainstream art world. Could be a good place to have this conversation publicly, right there on the site of the 1%. I don't know.

What do you think? Just another futile idea, or is it worth a try?

Exploration and creativity have been corporatized out of our culture in many ways and for many years now; in schools, mainstream media, a multitude of galleries. But it's still alive and well and even growing as is evidenced in the shared artistic works here, as graffiti on the walls, and in the growing number of artist cooperatives. Now, for the question: how to get the message out? We've been struggling with this one for years now, and recently just started giving it away all around town. Posting it on bulletin boards with a "free, please take one sign", and handing it out personally so we could stop to have a conversation with people. A slow process, but it all starts with the individual, right? Isn't that what we're all doing here?

Online, check out the Social Artist Network and the UFO club.

Hmmm...Thanks for bringing up this discussion; it gives me something more to contemplate and I look forward to hearing solutions from others.

Ecal, you are right they do commercialise and capittalise on others creativity, and take others ideas without credit or,reward.  A while ago I was making beanie hats and each was made with love and unique in some way - I happened to mention on a knitting website that I was combining two crafts beads and knitting -since then I have seen them producing patterns for other garments - and yes, decorated with beads !  I will keep my other creative ideas to myself and just sell locally..

in a way, corporations are directed by the privileged ones, so, creativity and exploration is almost a scientific method where its done by a generic way of looking at the moment and capitalize by it...so, the commercial-cultural industries explore a trend and create an apparatus around it...its just full PR...

but can you clarify what kind of exploration you mean? or what kind of creativity...cause i think its the commercialism and all that...

The Importance Of Reverse Phone Lookup.

phone number search

The first three digits of the phone number would also help them locate the owner of the phone number. The thing is that if they had just run a phone number lookup, they could have found each other! Before you get any ideas, let me tell you that these sites are perfectly legal and also offer their services free of cost. This happens to many different people all over the world and many of them don't know how they can identify these pranksters. It's extremely… Continue

We are supposed to be in this together!

Posted by Nette Mom on April 26, 2013 at 20:55 0 Comments

I was just endiing a campaign in Michigan against our Governor, and wondered what more was out there, what more can I do to help make my country the place I used to love, when I stumbled across a thing called Livestream, where people with the same purpose (supposedly) or like mindness could come together, chat, discuss, plan, and act and I was to say the least, excited. I started chatting and made so many friends and it was then I realized, that I had been wrapped up in my own small…
