This is the one of the most important fights against the banks that we are carrying in Spain these days. We appreciate your support and help!
Vicente Torres guaranteed his son when he decided to buy an apartment. Unfortunately, his son lost his job, so he was evicted when he couldn’t afford the mortage. But even when he was evicted he still had to pay the remaining mortage to the bank – that’s the law in Spain. He couldn't so Citibank Spain demanded Vicente to take over his son’s mortage, even when they already took his son's house. Vicente cannot afford it neither, since he is a 73-year-old retired widower with a very short retiring pension and he has recently had a heart operation and is waiting to have a second one. So now Citibank Spain tries to take Vicente’s house instead. Last 18th of April, Citibank tried to do it for the first time but neighbor and 15M’s pressure avoided it. They will try it again next week!
Please, help us to ask Citibank to stop this eviction! We propose you to send the letter that follows to their customer care service (https://www.citibank.com/domain/contact/visitor_email/form.htm), but feel free to pressure them as you consider it is better. In the letter you will find more details about the case and some of the hundreds of media that covered the news of the eviction.
Thank you!
Carabanchel 15M Assembly

Dear Sir or Madam
I have had notice of the eviction order served by the courthouse against Vicente Torres, as a result of the request submitted by Citifin S.A. (Group Citi - Spain) in the mortgage foreclosure proceedings.
Last 18th of April I realized that Citibank completely lacked humanity. Citibank intended to evict Vicente and his grandson from their house:

The property, which is in 41 Zaida street, in the district of Carabanchel in Madrid, Spain, has been seized by you after having Vicente Torres been guarantor of his son, whose property you have also sold at auction, making him and his family homeless as they were unable to pay their mortgage due to work problems. Moreover, it is astonishing that, after having Vicente been paying off his mortgage for 30 years, the only solution you offer him is to buy his home again. His is a special case as Vicente, a 73-year-old widower, has recently had a heart operation and is waiting to have a second operation.
Therefore I ask:
That Citifin S.A., of the Citibank Group, stop the eviction of Vicente Torres from his house on 41 Zaida street, set for May 3 2012 at 09:30 am, until you let him rent the house for no more than 30% of the family rent, or better and much more fair, give the house to Vicente. Also, because of an extremely vulnerable situation among the family, I ask you to write off the outside debt derived from your bank's mortgage loan.
Otherwise, please be informed that I will do everything in my power to raise awareness of this injustice and will urge acquaintances and use social networks to encourage people withdraw their savings and close Citibank accounts.
Sincerely,

I was just endiing a campaign in Michigan against our Governor, and wondered what more was out there, what more can I do to help make my country the place I used to love, when I stumbled across a thing called Livestream, where people with the same purpose (supposedly) or like mindness could come together, chat, discuss, plan, and act and I was to say the least, excited. I started chatting and made so many friends and it was then I realized, that I had been wrapped up in my own small…
