Questions about, and attempts to get answers about this website and how information on it is being used. Facebook, Twitter et al. have all given information [willingly or not] to Governmental authorities and/or used it for private purposes. I trust this is not true here, but want, in the spririt of OWS to know and assure others [and myself].

From the Admin Here to All

As Human Beings and residents of Planet Earth, we wish to extend to you our most heartfelt appreciation for everything that you are, and everything that you might become. As Occupiers, we wish to offer to you our Solidarity and Support, in whatever form we can, so that together we, as a group of individuals, might bring about true change in our world.

The idea behind this site is to provide an opportunity for all of us to come together, to share our ideas and creativity in the many ways of which we are capable. The Occupii Team is Multinational, Multilingual, without borders or boundaries, and we wish to extend the same opportunity to you. To give everyone a platform on which we may express ourselves loudly and proudly.

We know, too, that with great change comes great uncertainty, and we are all living in a time where most governments no longer serve The People. There is risk inherent in everything that we do as Occupiers, and that includes our use of the internet. With a great number of the resources on the web beginning to show signs of corruption, we must all accept that everything we do can be monitored.

Our mission is to provide the most secure platform possible, but we would simply reiterate what you should already know. As individuals we are responsible for our own safety, each of us must consider our personal risks. Occupii will never willingly surrender your information to anyone, official or not, and we can put it no clearer. We will do all that we can to protect you as a user of our website. We are complicit with no governments, religions, cults or agencies, and are representatives only of ourselves.

We do not ask for real information as you sign up for this website. You may offer as much or as little as you like. We can think of no greater Freedom, and Freedom is what we all seek. As a community of Free Thinkers, we hope that you will take it upon yourself to gauge your own risks, and the rewards you might find here in our community.

To help you on your path to personal security, we would suggest you take a look at the following link. While we do not represent, nor are represented by Anonymous, we do acknowledge their expertise in such fields;

As far as the SSL, you'll have to talk to the site administrators. If you can't locate who they are, contact me privately.

I agree on the SSL and while I assume that has been taken care of, I do not know. I don't know how often the tech people and admin look here on this group. Best to ask them directly.

Is there an identi.ca (or other) tweet api for my desktop tweet app?

Comment by Uppity Peasant on January 5, 2012 at 6:23pm

When is this site going SSL?  If you've been into IT for more than 5 minutes you know it is mission-critical for a political site.  Let me know if you need technical research to accomplish this -- you MUST protect the users of this site or the word will spread you're a fishing trip for the authorities.  Lets get this done.

Is there a general privacy statement?

Comment by ActiveSince60s on January 4, 2012 at 8:43pm

s&bOx [can be found on main headings]

a sandbox is a security mechanism for separating running programs. It is often used to execute untested code, or untrusted programs from unverified third-parties, suppliers, untrusted documents, users websites.

  • The sandbox typically provides a tightly-controlled set of resources for guest programs to run in, such as scratch space on disk and memory. Network access, the ability to inspect the host system or read from input devices are usually disallowed or heavily restricted. In this sense, sandboxes are a specific example of virtualisation.

One new addition here is the sandbox HERE: http://occupii.org/page/tech-sandbox For an explanation of it, see description at the url.

Again, this Group is about Privacy and Internet Security - mainly on this site; but, on any internet site, as well. I confirmed to my satisfaction that this is a legitimate Occupy website, I believe an offshoot idea from LSX London - but for all Occupy Everywhere. I did not get the names of who exactly is in 'charge' and am not sure that is settled or known, given the horizontal nature of Occupy. I spoke with the technical administrator for quite a while. I will return to ask more about certain issues, but for now think I can say that no one need feel this is a phishing site or fake site, etc. It is Occupy. Today is a very busy day for me and I might not get back to filling in all the 'blanks' for a day or three. Feel free to post your questions and concerns, thoughts and wisdom on the subject.

The Importance Of Reverse Phone Lookup.

Posted by Valentin Stokes on May 3, 2013 at 13:27 0 Comments

phone number search

The first three digits of the phone number would also help them locate the owner of the phone number. The thing is that if they had just run a phone number lookup, they could have found each other! Before you get any ideas, let me tell you that these sites are perfectly legal and also offer their services free of cost. This happens to many different people all over the world and many of them don't know how they can identify these pranksters. It's extremely… Continue

We are supposed to be in this together!

Posted by Nette Mom on April 26, 2013 at 20:55 0 Comments

I was just endiing a campaign in Michigan against our Governor, and wondered what more was out there, what more can I do to help make my country the place I used to love, when I stumbled across a thing called Livestream, where people with the same purpose (supposedly) or like mindness could come together, chat, discuss, plan, and act and I was to say the least, excited. I started chatting and made so many friends and it was then I realized, that I had been wrapped up in my own small…
