Comment by Aspie Nineeightfiveohtwo on January 17, 2012 at 16:55 Hello from Olympia, Washington.
I'm tired, extremely tired. There are things around Me, most of which are shattered beyond repair. And yes, much of those things have been ground into dust. So things have naturally grown dirty, incredibly dirty. There is so much filth... and so much pain and suffering with the filth, it's wholly unnatural.
The filth has degraded everything, it makes even the genuine things sometimes exhausting to look at, not just work with. it's turned everything rotten. It's nightmarish. The filth is in the air I breathe, it's in the ground I walk on and it's especially in the coins I use to pay the parking meter. The soulless and destructive dirt is everywhere.
Don't misunderstand me. I'm thankful for the experiences I've had and I'll forever cherish my comrades, both who I know and who I have yet to meet. But I cannot be hiding too much longer in the shadows of the crowd. I just need to get all this dirt off of me. Somehow.
You see, I'm spearheading a movement to create t-shirts in my Occupy Community. See my red "OCCUPY NOW" icon and replace the letters with a different Occupy slogan. The result? A new shirt for my Occupy to sell, for outreach, for visibility. For transparency. And, yes, for Hope.
For the red design is the synthesis of My Very Being, for I will personally wear the idea, what I am creating in my mind.
I know Love is the Change Agent for Good because True Love is never wrong. And I know... It's hard... but I cannot raise a clenched fist, I cannot have blinding anger, never again. Goodbye, Old Self. Goodbye Dirt. Goodbye Pain. Hello, New Self. Hello Love. Hello Peace.
This is not something I take lightly. The OLD has to LEAVE. NOW. I have LOVE in it's place.
And this is a process, this doesn't just happen overnight. But I've worked long and hard at this for a while. I've worked on the small things for years, already. This is the last and the biggest thing I have to work on. I've let go of a bunch of stuff. I've said my goodbyes to plenty of things.
But this remains. This last task, honoring this crimson Jewel, encrusted by Old Ways and almost forgotten by the Self. It exists within all of us and so, maybe You know, personally; You cannot part with it, even as it hurts, it feels unwanted. Yet it also helps You LIVE. So, by bringing it back, bringing it out, we all survive. This is the last thing for me to do, for my Jewel.
And what is the best thing about LOVE? It has NO price. It is FREE. <3
Follow me on Twitter: @aspie98502, You can find me on Facebook and Google+ from there. I invite You to watch, however means You wish to. But will You just watch me and be unmoved? Or will I inspire You to act as well?
Yes, I'm about to "go public" with these shirts. They will be available, starting TODAY and I have the filthy cash to get them. And I will gladly pay to have more by the end of the month, so I can wear one for each day of the week. Not just to get rid of the cash, the disgusting and filthy cash, but to get something in return that is worth so much more to me than the cash I use to pay for it.
By Saturday, the Future will have begun for Me, that's when I'll start wearing the shirts. Actually, the Future is approaching fast. The clock is indeed ticking for all of us. See, the System is built to fail, by design. They don't care. It's going to happen. They WANTED it to happen, for a while. So when the time is up, where will You be? What will You be like? I have to ask because we are all in this TOGETHER. <3
No masks for me, here. No longer Anonymous. Just respect and honesty is what I am and what I have to offer. Sunshine against the mold. Soap against the dirt. Hugs against the fists. I will watch and wait and see what will become of my world as I transform myself in front of the eyes of those in my world.
This is why the Old has to go, it makes everything seem bad. It's not just me that let things get this way. WE LET THINGS GET THIS WAY. By cleaning the Self and then my friends, may we individually and collectively know what it's like to be restored, someday...?
I know, I'm fearless. I no longer care what may happen to me... when I put on a shirt which represents LOVE and OCCUPY to wear wherever I go. I care more about what will NOT happen to me if I do NOT wear the shirt at all. I care what happens if my feelings go unexpressed.
I, in fact, care what happens if Depression sets in and destroys every last remaining Fabric of Inner Being. Now I do care, if I die, before I am ready. I care if I die, because the World seems to NEED me. A sole voice, a sole mind, a sole heart. A sole match, against the dry wood. I must act, for the sake of my Jewel. For the sake of ALL OUR JEWELS. So I will shun all other clothing and this is all that I will wear by Saturday, Forever.
I will let the true nature of Me to Publicly come out. It's time for me to LET IT ALL GO, to openly walk away from the greed and the ignorance, from the filth of yesteryear and into the Good of Tomorrow. It's time to VALUE PEOPLE MORE than we value paper currency. IT'S TIME FOR ME TO VALUE YOU. Welcome home, Friend.
Now that You know Me, I have to ask again, "What will You be like?" Time runs short. It's time to decide. Soon...

Comment by Mark E. Smith on January 16, 2012 at 17:38 That is so sweet, Jenni. Never mind that the only industry this country has is war, just find something that the corporate-owned Congress will never pass that some candidate can use to help get out the vote for continuing genocide.
The sooner the US economy collapses, the sooner the US empire will fall and the sooner it will become possible for the impoverished nations of the world to own their own resources instead of having to let the US steal everything while their people starve.
The global struggle for social and economic justice isn't about shoring up the US economy, an economy that only exists to steal from the poor and give to the rich.
Doesn't anyone in this country care about anything except perpetuating predatory capitalism and military imperialism?
So you get banks out of the investment and derivatives scam. The big shareholders of the big multinational corporations of the world with their interlocking boards of directors will still control the global economy by using the US military with its thousand overseas bases as their private army.
Back before Glass-Steagall was repealed, the US economy depended upon overthrowing democratically elected leaders all over Latin America, Asia, and Africa, and installing corrupt and brutal dictators who would sacrifice their own people so that the US could further enrich the global 1%, just as it does now. The only thing that changed was that some chickens are coming home to roost and the government that always exploited people of color everywhere including here, is now starting to exploit white people too.
Most of the oligarchs in Congress are invested in banks, financial corporations, and defense contractors, and they won't vote for anything that might decrease the value of their stock portfolios.
Even if you got some reforms passed, the next Congress could repeal them again. In a plutocracy like the USA, with a Constitution written to ensure that those who own the country will always rule the country, minor temporary reforms are lipstick on a pig.
I know you mean well, and aren't just cynically appealing to people's self-interest to get out the vote for continuing our seven wars of aggression, torture, and genocide, but those things really do matter.
Well, war crimes, genocide, and torture matter to me--I guess they don't really matter to voters. All voters want is a better economy, even if the US economy is based on murdering millions of innocents all over the world to get their countries' natural resources.
Dear corrupt politicians, could we please have a little less obvious corruption here at home--we don't really care how many innocent civilians in other countries you murder and piss on. No, those weren't "Taliban fighters" in Afghanistan. They had no weapons and there's an overturned wheelbarrow in the picture. They were innocent civilian peasants our troops were murdering for sport as usual. We had no business invading their country in the first place, just as we had no business invading Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan, Haiti, or any of the other countries we exploit and cause untold suffering in to support the US "economy." We have no economy--just endless wars to enrich the 1%. But they used to share some of the booty with middle class people here at home and now they don't. And people are enraged--not by the fact that we're a war economy, but by the fact that the 1% don't share as much of the loot as they used to. Why did anyone think that genocidal maniacs, despite what they do to enrich themselves, would always be nice to their families, friends, and constituents? They're psychopaths. They're just like their voters--they don't care about anybody except themselves.
Comment by Jenni Siri on January 16, 2012 at 15:22 I've created this petition yesterday, if you will, please sign and share. I think it's very very important to get this out of committee and onto the House floor. In addition, making this a campaign issue will not only help with getting it passed, it will force candidates to take a public stand on the issue.
Thank you!
H.R. 1489: Return to Prudent Banking Act of 2011 Sponsor: Rep. Marcy Kaptur [D-OH9]
This bill will: " ... repeal certain provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and revive the separation between commercial banking and the securities business, in the manner provided in the Banking Act of 1933, the so-called "Glass-Steagall Act", and for other purposes."
This bill is currently in the House Committee on Financial Services. We must urge committee members to bring this bill to the floor for a vote well before the elections in November. It would be beneficial if this became a campaign issue as it might stand a better chance of making it out of committee and eventually passing.
This petition targets committee members as well as the President and your representatives in the House and the Senate. They will receive an email from you as soon as you sign. You may edit the letter according to your needs.
The following summary was written by the Congressional Research Service, a well-respected nonpartisan arm of the Library of Congress. READ FULL TEXT
4/12/2011--Introduced.
Return to Prudent Banking Act of 2011 - Amends the Federal Deposit Insurance Act (FDIA) to prohibit an insured depository institution from being an affiliate of any broker or dealer, investment adviser, investment company, or any other person or entity engaged principally in the issue, flotation, underwriting, public sale, or distribution of stocks, bonds, debentures, notes, or other securities. Prohibits officers, directors and employees of securities firms from simultaneous service on the boards of depository institutions, except in specified circumstances. Requires any such individual serving as an officer, director, employee, or other institution-affiliated party of any insured depository institution to terminate such service as soon as practicable after enactment of this Act. Requires an insured depository institution to wind-down in an orderly manner and terminate any affiliation prohibited by this Act. Amends the Banking Act of 1933 (Glass-Steagall Act) to expand its prohibition against the transaction of banking activities by securities firms. Declares that Congress ratifies the interpretation by the Supreme Court of specified statutory language in the case of Investment Company Institute v. Camp ( ICI vs. Camp) regarding permissible activities of banks and securities firms. Declares that the reasoning of the Court in that case shall continue to apply to the limitations placed upon security affiliations under the FDIA as enacted by this Act. Prohibits a federal banking agency or federal court from issuing an interpretation regarding such security affiliations that is narrower than that of Court in ICI vs. Camp. Makes technical and conforming changes to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Revised Statutes of the United States, and specified federal law. Requires the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Comptroller of the Currency, or another appropriate federal banking agency to report to Congress a detailed description of the basis for its decision each time it makes a determination or grants an extension concerning an affiliation between insured depository institutions and investment banks or securities firms.
Comment by Mark E. Smith on January 16, 2012 at 14:06 I wish I knew what Just Torch was referring to as "conspiracy theories." Back in the days when I was a voter, I became active in the election integrity movement. When we learned that the electronic voting machines were easily hacked and unreliable, some of us started trying to get the word out by posting the information and documentation online to as many forums as we could.
This enraged the political operatives whose job it is to get out the vote for the capitalist imperialist system using every ploy that they can (charismatic candidates with smooth lies that people could vote for, evil candidates people could vote against, hot button issues people could vote for or against, etc.) so they went on the attack. They knew full well that the electronic voting machines were easily hacked and unreliable, but they didn't want voters to know, because knowing the truth might have deterred people from voting. Actually, they had nothing to worry about as most voters don't really care if their votes are counted or not, as long as they can vote.
Anyway, we were viciously atttacked by tag teams of political operatives on every forum we posted to. We were called crazy conspiracy theorists and often we were banned. But eventually the truth came out and everyone who cared learned that the electronic voting machine were indeed easily hacked and unreliable.
But not one website ever apologized for banning us and invited us back and not one political operative ever apologized for calling us crazy conspiracy theorists. Not one.
And I don't expect that they ever will. Their job is to get out the vote and people who tell the truth are very inconvenient to those whose methodology is based on lies.
Comment by Mark E. Smith on January 16, 2012 at 5:11 I only came back because I ran out of visas and this happens to be where I was born so I don't need a visa to be here. If I could get a residence visa elsewhere, I would.
I am not part of any network. I live alone and my chosen friends are also people who live simple, alternative lifestyles. Most are organic farmers and all are anti-fascists.
What are you calling a conspiracy theory? Please, when you start the filthy attempt at discrediting something by calling it a conspiracy theory, name what you are trying to discredit, don't just say, "your conspiracy theories aside." If I mentioned a conspiracy theory, instead of making vague, unfounded allegations and baseless smears, point it out and specifically call me on it.
Your personal attack on me, saying that I am not "playing with a full deck," is disrespectful and out of order.
There are more than two choices. It isn't just get involved with the system or overthrow it--if we withdraw from it to the extent possible, which may not be completely, it will collapse of its own accord. But you don't want to withdraw because you want your technological BENEFITS.
As for the benefits that YOU (and YOU do not and may not speak for everyone) do not wish to throw away, the so-called industrial and technological developments YOU prize are just euphemisms for genocide and planetary pollution. You can't heal the disease of capitalism and imperialist genocide by insisting on your entitlement to its benefits no matter what the cost to the rest of the world. Yes, you benefit from genocide and you want to continue to benefit from genocide, but that is not healing or clearing out the corruption.
Why not be honest with yourself? YOU want the benefits YOU derive from the genocides undertaken by the capitalist imperialist US government, so YOU vote in its elections because YOU want to maintain your benefits.
I don't care if the government cuts my Social Security or SSI, as they inevitably will to further fund their wars and further enrich the obscenely bloated 1%. I don't think my own survival is worth the cost of the deaths of millions of innocents, the way that you and Madeleine Albright think. As noted peace activist S. Brian Willson says, "We are not worth more, they are not worth less."
You cannot clear out the corruption of a genocidal capitalist imperialist government by voting to put a few good people into its bureaucracy. You know that. You, like all voters, simply don't care because all you care about are your own selfish BENEFITS. That's what you're voting for, to continue the global genocides from which you BENEFIT, because you don't care about anyone else.
I hope you'll stop lying to yourself. You don't want change, you want to keep your BENEFITS. Admit it, face it, and deal with it. Other selfish, self-centered voters will agree with you, but nobody who cares about global social and economic justice will. Some of us are part of the global struggle, but some are not. YOU are not.

I was just endiing a campaign in Michigan against our Governor, and wondered what more was out there, what more can I do to help make my country the place I used to love, when I stumbled across a thing called Livestream, where people with the same purpose (supposedly) or like mindness could come together, chat, discuss, plan, and act and I was to say the least, excited. I started chatting and made so many friends and it was then I realized, that I had been wrapped up in my own small…
