WARNING: May contain opinions
I need everyone's attention for just a day to lay the groundwork for making everything so much easier. How do I bring us all together? We are here and we are ignoring one another, not working together. We have a common cause, but that's not the same thing. Any ideas?

Permalink Reply by Ruffbear7 on March 4, 2012 at 15:04 It's like FB but not. You're right. Too many options, too many buttons. In situations like this, I like the telescoping life boats analogy. I hold on to one person who knows more than me and that person holds on to someone who knows more than him, etc. Anyway, you are here and I appreciate that you reached out and expressed your concern. What issues are you most interested in? (How's that for a pick-up line?)
Permalink Reply by Suzanne Horrocks on March 4, 2012 at 15:21 What issues am I most interested in? Do you have all day? What I am most concerned about is the country has been working towards "survival of the fittest", the smartest, healthiest, richest, etc. I am more of the "the chain is only as strong as the weakest link" mindset. What I love most about the occupy movement is everyone can choose/use their own idea/passion for good.
Why is occupii spelled that way, telescoping life boat?
Permalink Reply by Ruffbear7 on March 4, 2012 at 15:43 Telescoping life boats - a way to rescue people in rough seas, with each life boat going only so far as it can still be seen by another, extending out like a telescope.
I read somewhere on these pages that Occupii is spelled this way as a play on pi, the math concept having to do with circles and the two "eyes" also indicate Occupy 2.0.
I don't have all day, but I have the rest of my life to discuss topics like this. You have used very perceptive analogies to describe the two ways to look at our society. I have benefited from the first one to some extent because I am intelligent, had excellent parents and an outstanding education. However, that hasn't made me rich by any means because of my character defects, which leads to the second analogy. I like "be the change you want" because I see how so many of my strengths come from fashioning my behavior after very good role models. I agree that the Occupy movement has created an environment for people to follow that philosophy, except we aren't looking up from what we are doing and looking at what others are doing. The connectivity is weak.
Permalink Reply by Suzanne Horrocks on March 4, 2012 at 16:11 I totally agree with your last two sentences (as well as the other ones). I really feel with the "new social media", we are establishing a stronger connectivity. I don't "tweet", but I follow a lot of pages on FB, and it is energizing to know so many people feel the same way I do. I also "repost" a lot, hoping some of my "friends" will one day think a headline is interesting enough to read and think about.
I think the Occupy movement is helping to make people look up. It is also very hard to look up when you are working your fingers to the bone trying to keep up with daily life.
Permalink Reply by Ruffbear7 on March 4, 2012 at 16:28 Occupy did a tremendous job of illuminating the problems facing our country. The thing is they haven't done much more since. Visit the Lynchpin group in Occupii for more information. I agree it is quite difficult to find time to be active (I need to start my chores as soon as I post this), but my idea would take very little time and would bring us all together.
Permalink Reply by Suzanne Horrocks on March 4, 2012 at 16:34 Thanks for the chat. When you get a chance, can you elaborate on your idea? My day is starting as well but hopefully we can keep in touch. I'm willing to help with your idea.
Permalink Reply by Suzanne Horrocks on March 4, 2012 at 16:38 Ok. I just joined Lynchpin. Don't have time to read it all right now, but definitely will be back.
"We are here and we are ignoring one another, not working together." . . . . are you expecting something more from a leaderless movement ??
Permalink Reply by Ruffbear7 on May 1, 2012 at 22:46 Expecting? No. But I would think that we would be trying to make more connections than we do. Otherwise we are just random bubbles in the pool.

I was just endiing a campaign in Michigan against our Governor, and wondered what more was out there, what more can I do to help make my country the place I used to love, when I stumbled across a thing called Livestream, where people with the same purpose (supposedly) or like mindness could come together, chat, discuss, plan, and act and I was to say the least, excited. I started chatting and made so many friends and it was then I realized, that I had been wrapped up in my own small…
