hello lovelies! :)
we received an email in the FACT gmail account, regarding the permaculture festival / workshop day coming up (22nd Jan). they would like a first aid / care presence and obviously as inviduals we are welcome to take part and chip in / organise workshops etc of anything that interests us.
here is the whole email, they have given permission to pass it on/around to any who are interested.

Hallo OM groups and peeps!
Please see the info below which is being sent out at present re: the Permaculture in Action & Food Empowerment Festival @ Occupy Melbourne and it would be really great if you could share this/pass it along to others.
Even better would be to have your participation at the Festival!! :-)
As the Festival could really do with the involvement of the working groups and other individuals and groups who have played an active part in OM.
We especially need the Indigenous WG with regards to the land we will hold the Festival on and to hopefully share with us some know-how about food, as this is a food festival! :-)
Also, it would be really great to have both a Kitchen and Moustafa our gourmet chef at the Festival demonstrating to all how OM feeds everyone so very well.
We really could also do with a Front Desk, First Aid, and some Logistics help. Note: there were some working groups etc we could not get email address/contact with. And Community Outreach, as this Festival has the intention of building communities which work together to grow food not only in private space but public space with a goal fo their being food freely growing and available to all, we could really do with you on board.
Media... we really need you (and Community Outreach) to spread the word/help promote the Festival. Yes, it is coming up really soon with not much notice...yet we are Occupy Melbourne and are used to throwing things together in a flash and moving really quickly from place to place! It would be really great if Media could document the Festival too. The great news is, via a contact made during a train journey (it pays to talk to strangers sometimes lol!) the Festival may be filmed for Channel 31 and a couple of independent filmmakers may also be involved.
There are so many things that it would be great to have all your support with, so please check out the website

In particular please have a look at the Wish List which includes People Power, Materials, Logistics etc. There is an Actions page for actioning some of what is on the Wish List, and an Actions Log where stuff that is being actioned is updated. This festival relies on participation to make it colourful, vibrant and successful.
Thanks and we hope to see you at the Festival!! :-)

Permalink Reply by Thea Kingett on January 18, 2012 at 4:45 I'm going too. I am coordinating the kids corner and have a sneaking suspicion that the only reason I was suggested was because I am a mother. Feminist tendencies totally smarting right now....just as well I am a post-modern feminist eh?...lol See you all there

There’s a small retaining pond behind the college apartments. I go back there several times a day; it’s a good area that forces me to have a bit of a walk. …

I was just endiing a campaign in Michigan against our Governor, and wondered what more was out there, what more can I do to help make my country the place I used to love, when I stumbled across a thing called Livestream, where people with the same purpose (supposedly) or like mindness could come together, chat, discuss, plan, and act and I was to say the least, excited. I started chatting and made so many friends and it was then I realized, that I had been wrapped up in my own small…
