WARNING: May contain opinions
Occupy the Hague calls on all you who will gather at the Malieveld to demonstrate for our Right to Demonstrate, our Right to Protest and for our Social Economic Rights, tomorrow February 26th to bring along as much BLANK – yes, it’s not a mistake – BANNERS & SHEETS as possible.
WHY WOULD WE?
This demonstration is about the Hot Spring to come & about mayor van Aartsen who tried to prohibit this demo by, amongst other stuff, not allowing BANNERS on the Malieveld. Only after the threat of another court session and after consultation between the lawyers of the city of the Hague and Occupy the Hague, the demonstration was allowed.
How is it possible that some people in the Netherlands, assume to have the right to obstruct the right to demonstrate, while the law on public manifestation and the national ‘ombudsman’ are clear, the Mayor has to serve and facilitate manifestations and demonstrations in the best possible way!
Together with all of you, Occupy the Hague wants to make ONE LARGE BLANK BANNER as a protest against those who think they can reduce or minimize as they see fit, the right to demonstrate and as a run-up to a Spring filled with protest. The blank banners will fill itself with slogans in the months to come with what we think, want and need. And WE determine how we demonstrate and in what way we demonstrate!
SEE YOU ON THE MALIEVELD TOMORROW!
‘Together we stand for the Right to Demonstrate’

I was just endiing a campaign in Michigan against our Governor, and wondered what more was out there, what more can I do to help make my country the place I used to love, when I stumbled across a thing called Livestream, where people with the same purpose (supposedly) or like mindness could come together, chat, discuss, plan, and act and I was to say the least, excited. I started chatting and made so many friends and it was then I realized, that I had been wrapped up in my own small…
