Comment by pqxzyvr on January 4, 2012 at 19:41 @kanjin tor I think you misunderstand what people mean by a 'law handbook for occupiers'. What we mean is a handbook that has the laws of whatever country re: taking video or access to open spaces or what happens when they're arrested so that people know what their country's laws say and have those laws, as written in the books with them at all times to empower them. At least that's what I'm referring to, can't speak for anyone else.
Great idea about getting a contents page, I still think though that we may end up having several handbooks for various topics (and probably various countries/states/regions if we're gonna do one on legal rights). I do think we should be careful about being too definitive when it comes to "what occupy is about" that seems dangerously close to "biblicizing" it and, no offense to those who adhere to a religion based on written doctrine, but I think that's something we should stay away from.
Maybe Occupy Presentations can be based mainly on fostering discussions and the development of ideas. Like maybe the first topic could just be about tents, ha!!lol Like what do they think the tent means and why it was such a big deal to some occupiers, what it represents. One of the most beautiful things about Occupy for me is that it empowers everyone willing to share their ideas no matter how different or unique they may be, especially given how society right now has rendered so many of us voiceless. I think any outreach presentation to make sure everyone present walks away with that feeling of being heard.
Comment by Tina Louise Rothery on January 4, 2012 at 18:16 Question:
I know we are looking to the Handbook as a guide for Occupiers and those interested/new to the movement... but I was also interested in it serving as the basis for 'Occupy Presentations' - at school assemblies, workplaces, events etc, that would be a template for the presentation that any Occupier could do. Will this work do you think for all purposes?
Comment by Tina Louise Rothery on January 4, 2012 at 18:11 The contents page - a perfect starting point Paddy :)
Would the 'Discussion' area above work as a workspace for this or are there alternatives?
Comment by Occupy Paddy on January 4, 2012 at 18:11 To keep it short, like in a handbook, I recommend referencing a lot of it. Keeping it to key points, diagrams and Formulas and Tables. Thoughts?
Comment by Occupy Paddy on January 4, 2012 at 18:08 If we can all agree on a contents page we're half way there?
Comment by Occupy Paddy on January 4, 2012 at 18:04 I love all the collective conciousness stuff going on here. Everyone thinking the same. :)
I can Help with Scottish Law. I wonder though if Common Law is the same throughout the UK and also abroad?
Comment by kanjin tor on January 4, 2012 at 15:57 Occupiers Handbook" with laws, legislations,???
Here's law number 1. Do not try to impose a law on Occupy you aint the leader... there is no leader ergo you cannot impose law or legislation on the masses got it get it? good
Comment by pqxzyvr on January 4, 2012 at 3:42 This is great. Just thought of something else, we should include legal rights for camera operators/citizen journalists. There are some already-veterans of the movement in this respect but the more people out there who knows their rights re: filming and photographing, the more 'eyes on the ground' we may get AND the more they will feel confident in the face of police intimidation.
Comment by Tina Louise Rothery on January 4, 2012 at 2:10 Wow... we're looking quite good already :) Now have to work out how we create a 'work space' on here...
Comment by kingfrederik on January 4, 2012 at 2:07 I have done a course covering all things first aid if it helps

I was just endiing a campaign in Michigan against our Governor, and wondered what more was out there, what more can I do to help make my country the place I used to love, when I stumbled across a thing called Livestream, where people with the same purpose (supposedly) or like mindness could come together, chat, discuss, plan, and act and I was to say the least, excited. I started chatting and made so many friends and it was then I realized, that I had been wrapped up in my own small…
